How does switching between pellet and firewood operation work while the stove is running?
Switching happens directly on the appliance, with no conversion needed. If firewood is loaded while the stove is running in pellet mode, the hybrid stove automatically detects the change in fuel and adjusts the controls accordingly. This makes it possible to switch between the two fuels at any time, depending on what is available, the situation, or personal preference.
How is a hybrid stove correctly lit in emergency mode, without power?
Without power, the hybrid stove runs exclusively in firewood mode. For reliable combustion without electronic air control, a chimney draught of at least 12 Pa is required, which the chimney sweep can check in advance.
When lighting the fire, enough kindling, such as small pieces of wood, should be used, since it is important to bring the chimney up to temperature quickly to ensure good extraction of the flue gases. When adding fuel, the right size of split wood should be used. Output and burn behaviour in emergency mode cannot be directly compared to regular, electronically controlled operation.
Can a hybrid stove be run permanently on just one fuel, without switching between pellets and wood?
Yes. A hybrid stove does not require switching between fuels — both modes of operation are available independently of one another. Anyone who wants to heat exclusively with pellets can do so, just as someone can heat permanently with firewood. The flexibility lies in being able to choose depending on the situation, not in any obligation to switch regularly. In pure pellet operation, however, a shorter cleaning interval is required.
Does a hybrid stove need a different chimney design for pellet operation than for firewood operation?
No. Since the chimney is designed from the outset to handle both modes of operation, the design is based on the less favourable case, firewood operation. This means the chimney is automatically also suitable for pellet operation.
Does heating output (kW) differ depending on whether pellets or firewood are used?
Yes and no: in pellet operation, heating output can be continuously adjusted, or regulated across several output levels. In firewood operation, by contrast, output cannot be set directly — instead, it results from the amount of wood loaded, since more wood means more output.
Can a hybrid stove be combined with a heat pump, just like a classic stove?
Yes, the combination is just as possible and makes just as much sense. Since a hybrid stove can be adjusted even more precisely to match the required heat output than a stove burning firewood alone, it complements a heat pump even better. The same guidelines apply as for a classic stove.
